We are excited to be bringing you this edition of The Weekly Pulse! This week we have you covered on all the latest trend signals covering growing brand names, mushroom coffee, and the newest super supplement.
I. Trending products and brands for your morning routine this summer
Since summer is right around the corner, we thought it would be interesting to look into some skincare trends we see growing into the warmer months. Replenix is a skincare brand helping consumers pursue perfect skin for over 40 years. Initially, it required a prescription by dermatologists, but in 2021 it became available over the counter, and its popularity has exploded.
The conversation has picked up significantly over the past three months, increasing by 1009%. NWO.ai's impact score forecasts continued growth for the brand throughout the coming months, which may be an indication to add it to your morning routine.
II. Mushroom Coffee could be your next morning essential
Coffee reigns supreme in the mornings of people everywhere, but this kitchen essential is not the only way to start your day. Many coffee-drinkers are swapping out their lattes for mushroom coffee to gain the benefits of coffee without having the negative side effects of drinking their morning cup of Joe. Consumers have complained that coffee causes jitteriness, over-dependency, stomach problems, and caffeine dependency, and mushroom coffee aims to solve these problems.
The impact score for "Mushroom Coffee" has shown a steady increase since January 2020. Furthermore, NWO.ai's future estimate indicates that this growth will continue through the rest of the year. This could suggest that mushroom coffee may become a viable alternative to coffee.
III. The next great supplement: Ginseng
Ginseng has been used as a herbal remedy in Asian culture for centuries, and now it might have its time in the spotlight as our AI has shown an exponential increase in the conversation surrounding the super root. The impact score for "Ginseng" has increased rapidly over the past three months.
The history behind Ginseng is fascinating as it has been in use for centuries in many Asian communities but has only recently seen an increase in popularity outside of its traditional geography. Several health benefits are associated with Ginseng, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer effects, making it a super supplement. Ginseng falls into the adaptogen family, and as discussed in our previous inflection point newsletter article on beverage trends, adaptogens are trending and will continue to see growth. When looking at how Ginseng compares to other adaptogens, we can see the conversation around Ginseng is outpacing Ashwagandha and Maca.
Ginseng has seen massive growth over the past two years and has recently been exploding. Consumers may soon start seeing Ginseng hit the shelves everywhere as giant brands expand from foreign markets. Korean Ginseng Corporation, the largest ginseng manufacturer globally, announced they would be launching their KORESELECT product line in the US, offering various supplement products. We wouldn't be surprised if Ginseng became the next super supplement based on all this.
IV. Out with the Oat, In with Weetabix
You may not have heard of the UK's favorite cereal, Weetabix, but the famed cereal is gaining conversation traction due to its take on overnight oats. "Overnight Weetabix" has taken the world by storm, first gaining popularity through a Tik Tok promoting the protein-packed breakfast. Today, the tag "#overnightweetabix" has over 26.6 million views and is growing on Tik Tok. NWO.ai's impact score agrees, showing explosive growth surrounding the conversation on "Overnight Weetabix."
As you can see, the impact score for "Overnight Weetabix" has increased 2101% since October of last year. When comparing it to the original pre-made breakfast trend, overnight oats, we can see that overnight Weetabix takes the cake.
If you want to give this new breakfast item a try, here is a recipe for "Tiramisu Overnight Weetabix."
V. The Rise of the Gentle Monster
Sunglasses are synonymous with sunshine, so as the winter months come to an end and the sun starts to shine, we thought it would be fitting to look at sunglasses trends using our AI. So often, when people think of sunglasses, they think of the classics like Ray-Ban, Maui Jim, or Oakley, to name a few. However, we have seen a shift in the conversation surrounding sunglasses, and a new kid on the block is making itself known—the new kid: Gentle Monster. Gentle Monster is an emerging South Korean sunglasses brand that has exploded onto the scene. They have collaborations with some of the biggest designers, influencers, and musicians around the world, including Alexander Wang, Diplo, World of Warcraft, and Jennie (Korean musician). Gentle Monster's impact score has taken off over the past two years. Our future estimate for Gentle Monster shows that the conversation for the company will grow through 2022.
When comparing Gentle Monster to other sunglasses brands, the total conversation volume surrounding Gentle Monster is projected to outperform big brands such as Ray-Ban, Maui Jim, and Oakley.
Gentle Monster seems to have made a name for itself as the sunglasses brand you need this summer. So as the sun starts to come out, you may want to consider a stylish new pair of sunglasses from Gentle Monster.
