The history behind Ginseng is fascinating as it has been in use for centuries in many Asian communities but has only recently seen an increase in popularity outside of its traditional geography. Several health benefits are associated with Ginseng, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer effects, making it a super supplement. Ginseng falls into the adaptogen family, and as discussed in our previous inflection point newsletter article on beverage trends, adaptogens are trending and will continue to see growth. When looking at how Ginseng compares to other adaptogens, we can see the conversation around Ginseng is outpacing Ashwagandha and Maca.

Ginseng has seen massive growth over the past two years and has recently been exploding. Consumers may soon start seeing Ginseng hit the shelves everywhere as giant brands expand from foreign markets. Korean Ginseng Corporation, the largest ginseng manufacturer globally, announced they would be launching their KORESELECT product line in the US, offering various supplement products. We wouldn't be surprised if Ginseng became the next super supplement based on all this.

IV. Out with the Oat, In with Weetabix

V. The Rise of the Gentle Monster

However, we have seen a shift in the conversation surrounding sunglasses, and a new kid on the block is making itself known—the new kid: Gentle Monster. Gentle Monster is an emerging South Korean sunglasses brand that has exploded onto the scene. They have collaborations with some of the biggest designers, influencers, and musicians around the world, including Alexander Wang, Diplo, World of Warcraft, and Jennie (Korean musician). Gentle Monster's impact score has taken off over the past two years. Our future estimate for Gentle Monster shows that the conversation for the company will grow through 2022.
