by Jack LeeHoffman

Hello readers and welcome back to this week’s pulse. This week, we are covering a style that has been taking over red carpets and runways, having been worn by some of the most notable celebrities. We used our platform to dive deep into what is driving the crazy growth of this trend.

NWO.ai's signal for "Cutout Style"

Cutout style is considered a glamorous party-oriented trend that reveals different parts of the body. Think bare shoulders and back, with cuts throughout the clothing piece that pop out at the waist, collarbone, or even lower belly.  Over the past year, the impact score for “Cutout Style” has increased by 129%. The future estimate forecasts continued growth in the summer months and throughout the rest of the year.

The growing popularity of the cutouts can be attributed to the trend’s rise in pop culture. Euphoria is an HBO original that features many different looks and fashion silhouettes, including cutouts. Since the show debuted in June 2019, the impact score for “Euphoria Cutout” has increased by 874%. Euphoria was a box office hit as the show averaged 16.3 and 19 million viewers in seasons one and two, respectively. As a result, the show has been credited for having a growing influence on fashion.

NWO.ai's signal for "Cutout Dress"

Cutouts have been gaining traction, but we looked into different cutout silhouettes that are trending as well. Over the past year, the impact score for “Cutout Dress” has increased by 196%. The future estimate predicts steady growth throughout the rest of the year. Certain styles of cutout dresses are outpacing others as the signal for “Midi Cutout Dress” has increased by 194% over the past year. Midi style dresses can be defined as dresses that fall any length from two inches below the knees to just above the ankles.

The cutout has been popularized on the red carpet. We have seen the likes of Zendaya, Adriana Lima, and the queen of Spain wear the look. Cutout styles are growing in popularity, not only amongst consumers but also with many celebrities. We took a look at what our platform is showing about other cutout styles.

NWO.ai's signal comparison for "Cutout Swimsuit," "Maternity Cutout," "Cutout Mini Skirt," and "Cutout Pants"

Above, we compared some of the trendiest cutout styles, including swimsuits, maternity wear, mini skirts, and pants. Interestingly, the signal for “Maternity Cutout” has increased by 524% over the past year, the most significant increase amongst the group. The increase is primarily due to Rihanna popularizing the look during her pregnancy, and we even saw Adriana Lima rock the style at this year’s Cannes festival. The “Cutout Mini Skirt” is another signal that experienced substantial growth. In addition, the look was often featured in Euphoria, which as mentioned earlier, holds a strong influence over pop culture and consumers.

Cutout styles have risen in popularity over the past year and are not slowing down anytime soon. The trend seems to have gained traction from its presence in fashion and pop culture, as well as celebrities donning the look at highly-covered events. Our signals support this, and we believe this trend will be everywhere this summer.

Thank you for tuning into this week’s Inflection Point. As always, have a great weekend.
